A photojournalist who was arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer is no longer facing criminal charges.

Tony Overman, an Olympian photojournalist who just stepped down as president of the National Press Photographer’s Association, was arrested earlier this month as he was photographing a house fire.

Lacey Police Detective David Miller claimed that Overman stormed up to him and hit his forehead with his nose but no other officer on the scene witnessed the incident.

In dropping the charges, city Prosecutor Joseph M. Svoboda says in court papers that the city believes it has probable cause to cite, but may not be able to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.
