New Orleans Cop Smacks Video Camera Out of Man's Hand

A New Orleans police officer violently smacked a camera out of the hands of a man as he was videotaping them making an arrest.

Ritchie Katko, 30, was standing several feet away from a group of officers making an arrest when one of the officers turned to him, stormed up to him and yelled, “get out of here” before smacking the camera out of his hands.

Katko picked the camera back up and continued recording.

Apparently, New Orleans police have become so accustomed to getting away with corruption and abuse towards citizens, they believe a video like this won’t come back and bite them in the ass.

But now they are not only being investigated for the camera incident but their behavior as they tried to break up a parade that was operating without a permit.

You would think that a city like New Orleans would not sweat an unpermitted parade, especially during Mardi Gras festivities.

I am currently in Austin for the South by Southwest festival, so blogging may be sporadic over the next several days.
