Woman Sues NYPD for Beating Her Up As She Tried to Take Photo

A woman is suing the New York City Police Department for $24 million, claiming officers beat her up and arrested her after she tried to photograph them making an arrest.

The incident occurred in 2009 when Hope Gonzalez and her boyfriend, Pedro Gomez, came across a young man being “abused” by a group of officers.

She pulled out her camera to take a photo and the officers turned on her, striking her billy clubs and breaking her nose, according to the New York Post.

She was charged with resisting arrested after police accused her of spitting in their faces.

Those charges were dropped.
