Cop Assaults Videographer At Occupy Burlington Encampment In Vermont

A police detective assaulted a news videographer at an Occupy Burlington encampment in Vermont Thursday.

The Burlington police officers were investigating the suicide of a man who was found dead inside his tent when Burlington Free Press videographer Ryan Mercer walked up with his camera on.

A police sergeant told “you don’t need to see this” before Detective James Trieb stormed up to him and grabbed his camera and pushed him back.

“Get your hands off me, please,” Mercer responds before another plainsclothes cop intervenes.

Trieb walks back and Mercer continues recording.
