South Florida Deputies Arrest Man Video Recording his Friend's Arrest

A Palm Beach County deputy was inside a business when he looked out the window and spotted a man trying to enter his patrol car, so he walked outside and arrested the man.

Meanwhile, another man was video recording the incident, so he was also arrested.

According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, the first man arrested, Thomas Quinlan, was charged with felony burglary to an emergency vehicle and a misdemeanor charge of resisting an officer without violence.

The second man arrested, Joshua Craver, was also charged with resisting an officer without violence.

Quinlan claimed he was just trying to release the police dog in the back seat, so maybe he believed the dog was in danger in an enclosed car with the windows rolled up.

Or maybe he was just trying to pull a Youtube prank.

Either way, it is questionable as to why they arrested Craver if he was only video recording his friend.

Maybe they had grounds to detain him, considering he was a sort of accessory to the crime. And if he walked away, then maybe they had grounds to charge him with resisting, not that they ever need actual grounds to use that charge down here (I’ve been slapped with it three times for taking photo or shooting video).

I guess the lingering questions will be answered once the video gets posted – if the video did not get deleted during the arrest.

Craver was released from jail earlier today, but I wasn’t able to track him down tonight.
