The man who recorded the viral video that shows a South Carolina cop shooting an unarmed man in the back was interviewed tonight by NBC News, showing his face for the first time.
His name is Feidin Santana and he says he just happened to be near the scene when he saw North Charleston police officer Michael Slager using a taser gun on Walter Scott, who then took off running.
Instinctively, he began recording and captured the scene that resulted in Slager getting arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
He said he never saw Scott take the taser from Slager – as Slager had claimed in his report.
But he did capture Slager tossing the taser gun near Scott’s body to help bolster his story that he was in fear for his life.
Had it not been for his video, Slager would have viewed as a hero, justified in killing an innocent man.
But now we can see who the real hero is.
Below the first video is a second video showing a press conference conducted by both the mayor and chief of police, which shows the pressure from the community the city is facing.
