Second Young Woman Comes Forward Alleging Sexual Advances from Police Chief Already Under Investigation for Stalking Juvenile

A Texas police chief we reported on this week who is under investigation for stalking a 14-year-old girl may have done the same to six or more other female children.

Now another young woman has come forward with her story.

And its strikingly similar to the previous allegations.

Maypearl Police Chief Kevin Coffey is accused of initiating a friendship with a 14-year-old girl on Facebook, sending her messages that were extremely sexual in nature, often involving handcuffing the child.

“I’ll cuff u and put u on the hood again and smack that ass lol.”
“Had a nice spot picked out to stop you and everything lol.”

The officer would even wait outside her home and flash his lights for her to come outside.

On July 11, search warrants were executed on his home and office for all of his computers, cell phones and thumb drives.

Now, Brittanie Lyon, who was 18-years-old when she first met Coffey, has come forward to the media with her own story and messages.

“Oh, ‘Your boobs are so big’ and, ‘you have a nice body’ and ‘your butt’s getting bigger’. I mean, ‘I have messages where he’d say I want to smack that ass.” Lyon told CBS, as she showed them messages from the chief.

Lyon explained that when she got in trouble, the chief had her serve her community service at the station. He would also take her for ride-alongs in his police vehicle while on-duty.

“I’ve done ride-alongs with him in the cop car, pulling people over for speeding,” she said.

The young woman stated that Coffey only put his hands on her once despite all the vulgar comments and advances online.

“He was massaging (my shoulders) and then it went down to my arms… He was like, ‘If you undo your bra strap, I can massage right here in the middle of your back’. And I said, ‘No, I’m tired. I’m just gonna go home,” she said.

For a month following the incident, Lyon ignored the messages from Coffey and they became more and more aggressive.

“ANSWER YOUR PHONE!!!!!” one message read.

“I told him some of the comments made me uncomfortable, and he laughed it off. He said, ‘I’m just kidding with you’.” Lyon stated.

The chief then decided to block her on Facebook as well as from the Maypearl Police Department Facebook page.

Coffey is now on administrative leave while he is being investigated by the Texas Rangers, Texas Attorney General’s Office Child Exploitation Unit, Ellis County District Attorney’s Office, and the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office for official oppression, misuse of official information, online solicitation of a minor, stalking and harassment and tampering with evidence.
