Mitchell Crooks finally hit the jackpot in Las Vegas, raking in a $100,000 settlement almost one year after he was severely beaten by a police officer for recording the officer from his front yard.

The video of Las Vegas police officer Derek Colling beating Crooks was so blatant and infuriating, that it was voted as the Second Worst Police Misconduct Video of 2011 on Injustice Everywhere, only to be topped by the video of the Kelly Thomas beating death at the hands of Fullerton police.

Even though the video displayed such an obvious abuse against Crooks, it took four months for Las Vegas police to acknowledge he was out of line and an additional four months to actually fire him.

I am immersed in a legal case where I not only want to clear my criminal charges stemming from my arrest in January, but I want to sue the Miami-Dade Police Department for deleting my footage, which I was able to recover.

My goal is to set some type of precedent to ensure this does not happen as often as it does today where cops simply get away with it.
