A Texas sheriff says he’s disgusted after a woman he threatened with disorderly conduct charges for a “Fuck Trump” sticker on her truck added a new message.
“Fuck Troy Nehls and fuck you for voting for him,” a new sticker reads.
Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy E. Nehls, who is considering a bid for Congress, posted to Facebook last week threatening the owner of the truck with a sticker that says “Fuck Trump and fuck you for voting for him.”
“I have received numerous calls regarding the offensive display on this truck as it is often seen along FM 359. If you know who owns this truck or it is yours, I would like to discuss it with you. Our Prosecutor has informed us she would accept Disorderly Conduct charges regarding it, but I feel we could come to an agreement regarding a modification to it,” the post read before Sheriff Nehls decided to delete it, claiming he received threats to his family.
After being released from jail, the truck’s owner, Karen Fonseca added the new message, according to KHOU.
Fonseca, who posted the sticker on her truck after Donald Trump was elected, was arrested the next day for an outstanding warrant for fraud.
“I’m almost certain it does have to do with this,” she said after being released on a $1,500 bond.
“People abuse the badge, and in my opinion, money talks. When you’re in politics, people know how to work the system.”
Sheriff Nehls reacted to the sticker, calling it “disgusting.”
“I’m not surprised,” he told KHOU.
After claiming he was no longer commenting on the matter due to threats to his family, sheriff Nehls claimed his Facebook post served its purpose after Fonseca was arrested in front of her children on the warrant from 2014.
“The Facebook post accomplished its objective and now we know who owns the truck,” he said.
Mike Fonseca, Karen’s husband, questioned the timing.
“I think it’s the sticker,” he said during an interview outside the Fort Bend County Jail.
